Photobiomodulation, explained

Not a trend. A therapy.

Red light therapy has been studied for over four decades by NASA, Harvard Medical School and leading research institutions worldwide.

The mechanism

How light becomes healing

A precise biological cascade activates your body's own repair systems.

08

Light absorption

Red and near-infrared photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in your mitochondria.

09

ATP production surge

Increased ATP gives cells more usable energy to repair and regenerate.

010

Biological cascade

Reduced oxidative stress and inflammation modulation accelerate tissue repair.

See the difference

How deep each wavelength reaches

630nm is absorbed mostly at the skin surface, ideal for collagen and tone. 850nm passes through skin entirely and reaches muscle and joint tissue up to 5cm deep, which is why it drives pain relief and recovery.

The gap that matters

Why specs determine outcomes

Most cheap red light devices fail on the exact specifications that make the therapy work.

Setting the record straight

Myth versus fact

Myth

Red light therapy is the same as tanning beds or UV exposure.

Fact

Red and near-infrared light contain zero UV. They cannot burn or damage skin the way tanning beds do.

Myth

Brighter light always means a more effective device.

Fact

Wavelength accuracy matters more than brightness. A device outside 630-850nm produces little benefit regardless of intensity.

Myth

Results happen instantly, like a topical cream.

Fact

Cellular repair is cumulative. Most studies show measurable benefits after 4-8 weeks of consistent use.

Myth

It is an unproven, fringe wellness trend.

Fact

It is FDA cleared and backed by over 5,000 peer-reviewed studies spanning four decades.

Use responsibly

Safety and precautions

Red light therapy is well tolerated, but a few situations warrant caution. This is general information, not medical advice.

Check with a doctor first if

You are pregnant or breastfeeding

You take photosensitizing medication

You have active skin cancer or a history of melanoma

You have a condition affecting light sensitivity, such as lupus

General precautions

Avoid direct sustained eye exposure, eye protection is recommended for face devices

Discontinue use if you notice unusual skin irritation

Not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment

Keep within the manufacturer's recommended session length and distance

What the research shows

The cumulative effect

Benefits build gradually with consistent use rather than appearing instantly.
